Two Options for Acne Scars: Scar Care Gels and Surgery

by Clarita Milles

Scars can be treated and removed a number of different ways. When scars are minor and barely noticeable, they will fade on their own. However, if a scar is large or restrictive it will probably require surgical intervention.

Scars can also be minimized by using special creams. This is by far the gentlest form of treatment, and a welcomed alternative for skin that has been damaged by such problems as acne.

Acne scars are usually more prevalent in those people that never treated their acne or decided to use the wrong treatment for their skin. This is why it is so important that you maintain a consistent skin care routine and use the right acne cream.

Surgical Scar Removal

Sometimes surgery is the only alternative for removing acne scars. In this case you can choose from two types of procedures: punch excision and subdermal incision or subcision. Ice pick scars, and other atrophic scars, are usually treated with punch excision while rolling scars are primarily treated using subcision.

Punch excision involves a cookie cutter type instrument that is used to remove scar tissue. The edges of healthy skin are then sutured together to form one, small straight scar. If the excised skin is too large, a skin graft is used to close the wound.

Subcision, on the other hand, is performed by introducing a small scalpel or small pair of scissors beneath the skin to release the underlying scar tissue from the layers of skin. This procedure produces bruising as fresh blood rushes in to occupy the space between the skin and scar tissue. Nonetheless, this is exactly what helps level out the skin.

Different Alternatives to Surgical Scar Removal

Scars can also be treated using scar care gels or scar creams. This type of treatment isn't for all types of scars, but it does work effectively on minor scars and new scars. They can also be used after surgery to promote scar less healing.

Natural scar gels and creams are made with special ingredients that help break down scars and promote the growth of new skin cells. One incredible ingredient is snail serum. This gentle natural ingredient is effective and known to help dissolve scar tissue. It also helps trigger the production of healthy skin cells while also increasing the production of elastin and collagen.

Try and stay away from products that contain collagen because they won't help repair scar tissue. In fact, collagen molecules are too large to penetrate skin pores which, in essence, keeps them from reaching the site of the scar.

Laser treatment is also a viable alternative, but it's not always the right one. Consult with a dermatologist to see if you are eligible for laser treatment.

If you want to prevent scarring, you need to find the right acne treatment for your skin. However, if you have severe forms of acne you'll need an adequate and effective acne scar treatment alternative, like BIOSKINFORTE. This natural skin care product can not only help treat mild to moderate forms of acne, but it can also help aid in acne scar removal.
